2012 NASCAR Cup Series champion Brad Keselowski has, according to a Friday report from Sports Business Journal and Adam Stern, had a bid to purchase the entirety of RFK Racing turned down.

Keselowski, who, last month, shocked the entire NASCAR industry by confirming that he would be leaving RFK Racing and the No. 6 Ford Mustang Dark Horse at season’s end, confirmed the standing offer to Sports Business Journal.

“I would say yes, there is truth that I made an unsolicited bid to buy RFK Racing; that was denied in the last week,” Brad Keselowski told Sports Business Journal (SBJ). But, he said, “I think it was a pretty solid and significant offer.”

Stern reports that, at the same time as Keselowski’s departure from RFK came to a head, the Rochester Hills, Michigan-native was also looking for additional capital to purchase a greater stake in RFK Racing.

Keselowski did not confirm any additional details surrounding his bid – including other equity firms involved or the financials of the deal. However, the two other owners of the organization, Jack Roush and John Henry (Fenway Sports Group), turned it down.
