Saturday’s on-track activity from Charlotte Motor Speedway is a wash.
The rain has arrived in Concord, North Carolina, and it’s not going to be leaving anytime soon, forcing NASCAR to scrap all on-track activity from Saturday at Charlotte Motor Speedway – including NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series practice and qualifying, NASCAR Cup Series practice and qualifying, and the Blue Cross NC 300.
As NASCAR announced earlier Saturday morning for the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series, the NASCAR Cup Series will have all on-track sessions cancelled, and the starting lineup for Sunday’s Bank of America 400 will be set by the Performance Metric.
Kyle Larson, driving the No. 5 HendrickCars.com Chevrolet Camaro for Hendrick Motorsports, will lead the field to green for 400 miles at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Sunday. Las Vegas winner Chase Briscoe will roll from second, with Tyler Reddick, Ryan Blaney, and Austin Cindric rounding out the top-five.
William Byron, Joey Logano, Bubba Wallace, Chase Elliott, and Shane Van Gisbergen will round out the top-10 starters. Drivers in the Chase that will start outside of the top-10 include Carson Hocevar in 11th, Denny Hamlin in 12th, Chris Buescher in 13th, Ty Gibbs in 14th, Daniel Suarez in 15th, Christopher Bell in 17th, and Ryan Preece in 24th.
Practice and qualifying for both the NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series will not be rescheduled; however, NASCAR has also postponed the Blue Cross North Carolina 300 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. That race, scheduled for 3:00 PM ET on Saturday, will instead be run at 8:00 PM ET on Sunday, following the NASCAR Cup Series event.
USA Sports will have coverage of the Bank of America 400 at 3:00 PM ET.
The CW will have coverage of the Blue Cross NC 300 at 8:00 PM ET.
