Layne Riggs is officially back…
Well, he technically never left, but after two subpar weekends back-to-back to start the 2026 NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series Chase, the Front Row Motorsports (FRM) driver finally has some positive momentum on his side after winning Friday’s Ecosave 200 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
Riggs paced the field for 47 of 134 laps, and won Stage 1, but in the middle portion of the event found himself falling behind points leader Kaden Honeycutt. It took most of the final stage for the No. 34 Bare Knuckle Boxing Ford F-150 to get back in range to fight for the victory.
As Riggs and Honeycutt dueled for the lead inside the final 10 laps of Friday’s event, the duo went to the high side in Turn 4. While the No. 34 managed to keep his truck out of the wall, Honeycutt wasn’t as lucky, and gave up a ton of track position, and the second position.
By the finish, the Bahama, North Carolina-native was 0.596 seconds up the road on Christian Eckes, who managed to eke out a runner-up finish. Kaden Honeycutt slid to third-place in the race’s closing laps.
“We really needed that one,” Riggs said post-race. “That was a hell of a battle there at the end with me and [Kaden Honeycutt]. That was a lot of fun, so thank you to everyone on this No. 34 Front Row Motorsports Bare Knuckle Boxing Ford F-150, this thing was fast tonight, I think I had to pass the No. 11 like three or four times, we got to still work on pit road, that was definitely our weakness still, but we kept driving it to the front.”
With his victory at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Friday, Riggs was able to take a chunk out of Honeycutt’s points lead in the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series, shrinking the gap from 37 to 17 points with just four races remaining in the season.
Christian Eckes fired his No. 91 NAPA Nightvision Chevrolet Silverado RST into the runner-up position at the end of the race, dropping Kaden Honeycutt to the third position. Bayley Currey, making his second of two scheduled starts in the No. 5 at TRICON Garage, finished in fourth-place, with Chandler Smith rebounding from a pit road penalty to get a top-five.
Daniel Hemric finished sixth, with Niece Motorsports teammates Landen Lewis and Andres Perez De Lara in seventh and eighth place. Tyler Ankrum was ninth, with Justin Haley rounding out the top-10 in the No. 16 RAM 1500.
Other drivers in the Chase that finished outside the top-10 include Ty Majeski (11th), Grant Enfinger (12th), Ben Rhodes (21st), Gio Ruggiero (26th).
Next, the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series heads to Phoenix Raceway. Coverage of the event will take place Friday, October 16 at 7:30 PM ET on FOX Sports 1.
