Jeffrey Earnhardt, the grandson of seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Dale Earnhardt, is working towards returning to NASCAR’s National Series on a full-time basis in 2027, he said Tuesday in a social media post.

Earnhardt, who hasn’t made a start in any of NASCAR’s top three divisions since a three-race stint with Sam Hunt Racing in 2025, says he’s secured sponsorship to run part-time in “competitive equipment”, but is looking for additional funding to make it a full-time gig.

“We are working hard towards 2027 race season to be in competitive equipment, racing in one of [NASCAR’s National Series],” Earnhardt said. “Not sure which one we’re going to be in yet, but we’ve got partners in place, right now. Not enough for a full season, so hopeful to get to that dollar amount to be racing full-time, but we are going to be on track in competitive equipment where we can race for wins and be competitive every weekend.”

Earnhardt has been competing in NASCAR’s National Series since 2009, but recently, since his last opportunity in the NASCAR Cup Series with Gaunt Brothers Racing (2018), has been running in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series – driving for Joe Gibbs Racing, JD Motorsports, Sam Hunt Racing, Emerling-Gase Motorsports, and Alpha Prime Racing, along with a one-off with Richard Childress Racing.

“Obviously, still working to get more [sponsorship] to hopefully be full-time, so anybody looking to sponsor give us a shout, but excited to share the news, we are going to be back on track in 2027, racing for wins and being competitive so stay tuned.”
