After being the quickest driver in practice and absolutely curb-stomping the field in qualifying (winning the pole by nearly half a second), Saturday’s NAPA 100 at Circuit ICAR went about as you would expect for Terrebonne, Quebec-native Alex Guenette.
Piloting the No. 39 DLGL Technologies / GL Electric Automatisation Chevrolet Camaro, in a partnership with JASS Racing and XEMIS Racing, Guenette took absolutely no prisoners in Saturday’s 43-lap event, leading every single lap and pulling out to a remarkable 11.672-second lead over established road racer Andrew Ranger.
Ranger and the remainder of the NASCAR Canada Series field were unable to even come close to defeating the No. 39 on Saturday, giving Guenette his second career victory in the NASCAR Canada Series and his first since the Streets of Trois-Rivieres in 2022.
It’s the fifth top-five result for Guenette at Circuit ICAR, beating out a previous-best of second-place at the racetrack in 2014.
Andrew Ranger, now a part-timer in the GM Paille Chevrolet, finished in the runner-up spot, while championship leader Marc-Antoine Camirand came home in the third position, more than 19 seconds behind the race-winner.
Kevin Lacroix and Alex Tagliani rounded out the top five. Connor Bell, L.P. Dumoulin, J.P. Bergeron, Mathieu Kingsbury, and D.J. Kennington rounded out the top-10. Only 15 of the 24 starters finished the event on the lead lap.
Jared Odrick found himself making an unscheduled trip to the pit lane early in Saturday’s event, ending his shot at a potential top-10 finish. Sam Fellows also ran into trouble about midway through the race, finishing 24th, 24 laps off the pace.
Despite having the opportunity to do so, Marc-Antoine Camirand was unable to clinch the 2026 NASCAR Canada Series Championship and will have to move to Canadian Tire Motorsports Park next weekend to try and put together a title-ending run.
