Riley Herbst, driver of the No. 35 Tree Top Toyota Camry XSE, will not compete in Saturday’s NASCAR Cup Series event at Daytona International Speedway, 23XI Racing said Saturday afternoon in a statement posted to social media.

The statement reads: “After a strong effort in qualifying yesterday, Riley Herbst woke up with lingering effects from last weekend’s incident and, along with the team, decided it was in his best interest to step out of the car for tonight’s race at Daytona International Speedway.”

Herbst was involved in a late-race crash last weekend at New Hampshire, which saw the Las Vegas, Nevada-native turned into the Turn 3 SAFER Barrier incredibly hard, before getting hit once again by Connor Zilisch in the wreck’s aftermath.

Harrison Burton, winner of the 2024 Coke Zero Sugar 400 at Daytona International Speedway, will be serving as the fill-in driver for Herbst in the No. 35 Toyota Camry XSE on Saturday. Burton finished inside the top-10 in Friday’s NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series event for Sam Hunt Racing and is the reserve driver for LEGACY MOTOR CLUB.

Corey Heim, who is typically the reserve driver for 23XI Racing, is scheduled to run Saturday’s 400-miler from Daytona in the No. 67 CELSIUS Toyota Camry XSE, and thus, was not available to fill-in.
