Kris Wright will not be returning to McAnally-Hilgemann Racing for the 2027 NASCAR FedEx Freight Truck Series campaign, the team confirmed to JosephSrigley.com.
The 32-year-old driver joined the organization at the tail end of the 2025 NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series campaign in a fifth part-time entry, before being upgraded, for this season, to a full-time seat in the No. 81 F.N.B. Corporation Chevrolet Silverado RST.
In 27 starts behind the wheel of a McAnally-Hilgemann Racing-prepared machine, Wright has a best finish of 11th-place last October at Talladega Superspeedway (while driving the No. 16). Along the way, the 2018 IMSA Prototype Challenge LMP3 Champion recorded seven finishes inside the top-20 and two top-15s.
Wright has been competing across NASCAR’s National Series since 2020, primarily in the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series, racing a total of 74 times for several organizations including GMS Racing, Young’s Motorsports, Niece Motorsports, and TRICON Garage, before moving to McAnally-Hilgemann Racing.
The Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania-native also has 34 starts in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series, driving for Sam Hunt Racing, JD Motorsports, Brandonbilt Motorsports, and Our Motorsports. A March 2025 event at Martinsville Speedway produced Wright’s best-ever NASCAR result of ninth.
Wright’s plans for the 2027 NASCAR National Series campaign are unknown and will be announced at a later date.
McAnally-Hilgemann Racing’s driver lineup for the 2027 NASCAR FedEx Freight Truck Series will include returning drivers Daniel Hemric and Christian Eckes, as well as at least one other, which will be announced by the organization in due course.
