Could IMSA SportsCar Championship driver Callum Ilott be coming to NASCAR?
The Cambridge, England-native certainly seems interested in making a jump into the highest level of stock car racing in North America, based on a social media post he made Thursday asking if anybody could get him into a race next season.
“Can someone get me in a NASCAR race next year,” Ilott asked.
The 27-year-old driver is a former Formula One hopeful whose racing career has taken him to several difference divisions across the world after a runner-up finish to Mick Schumacher in the 2020 Formula 2 Championship and a spot as a reserve driver for Ferrari’s F1 team.
From 2021 to 2025, Ilott came to the United States to compete in the NTT IndyCar Series, running for Juncos Hollinger Racing in 2022 and 2023, and returning to the series full-time in 2025 for Prema Racing. In 55 INDYCAR starts, Ilott has a best finish of fifth, twice, with Juncos Hollinger Racing at St. Petersburg and Laguna Seca.
It wouldn’t be the first time there was an INDYCAR, Formula 1, or even IMSA crossover coming to NASCAR.
Earlier this season, at Lime Rock Park, NTT IndyCar Series driver Louis Foster joined Freedom Racing Enterprises for a one-off on the No. 76.
Jenson Button, Kimi Raikkonen, Kamui Kobayashi, Jacques Villenueve, Mike Rockenfeller and Daniil Kvyat are among a laundry list of drivers who have made appearances in NASCAR from other racing divisions.
