On Monday (October 26), Amy and Scott Hocevar, the parents of full-time NASCAR Cup Series competitor Carson Hocevar, celebrated an incredible milestone in both their lives together and in their marriage – their 35th wedding anniversary.

Though, as Amy, Carson’s mother, pointed out in an Instagram post on Monday, this year in particular, despite featuring some of the highest highs in her son’s NASCAR career, has featured some additional struggles.

In April, Scott Hocevar suffered a stroke, and, per Amy Hocevar, it happened “on a day that should have been such a happy event”, the day of the NASCAR Cup Series event at Talladega Superspeedway (April 26). On that very day, Amy and Scott’s son, Carson Hocevar, clinched his first career victory at NASCAR’s top-level level and was also quickly launched into the mainstream media.

“This year has been a challenge with Scott [Hocevar] having a stroke [at the] end of April,” the post reads. “And on a day that should have been such a happy event. It was on the day Carson won his first ever NASCAR Cup [Series] race at Talladega.”

“Our days are much different now,” the post continues, “and we are settling into our new normal. Love you and look forward [to] spending many more years together.”
