Austin Green is one of the strongest road course drivers in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series right now, but he’ll make his NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series debut later this month at a racetrack you probably wouldn’t expect.

The 25-year-old son of David Green will get behind the wheel of the No. 77 Chevrolet Silverado RST for the Friday, October 23 event at Talladega Superspeedway, with sponsorship from Spire Motorsports partner GUNK.

Green, over the last three seasons, has made 40 career starts in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series, and in that time has secured a pair of top-five results, as well as 11 top-10 finishes – one of which came this Spring at Talladega Superspeedway, driving the No. 87 for Peterson Racing.

A native of Concord, North Carolina, Green was scheduled to compete full-time in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series for Peterson Racing Group this season but was replaced by Nick Sanchez (and others) midway through the season, though not released from the team.

Green’s most-recent start in the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series, last weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway, resulted in a 23rd-place finish.
