Front Row Motorsports (FRM) teammates Layne Riggs and Chandler Smith, both of whom have won recently in the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series at Bristol, will start on the front row for Thursday’s UNOH 250.
Riggs, the No. 1 Seed in the NASCAR Truck Series Chase for The Championship, will lead the field to green after NASCAR was forced to cancel qualifying for the Truck Series – despite all but nine trucks turning a lap in time trials.
While no rain fell on the 0.533-mile racetrack, lightning was within an eight-mile radius of The Last Great Coliseum, forcing NASCAR to halt on-track action, and with a jampacked schedule on Thursday, that left no time for the remainder of the trucks to qualify before the ARCA Menards Series event.
Layne Riggs and Chandler Smith will lead the field to green, with TRICON Garage driver and No. 2 Seed in the Chase, Kaden Honeycutt, rolling from third. Tristan McKee and Stewart Friesen round out the top-five starters.
William Sawalich, making a one-off start in the No. 62 for Halmar Friesen Racing, will start from sixth-place, with Daniel Hemric, Ty Majeski, Justin Haley, and Grant Enfinger rounding out the top-10.
Jake Garcia, who had the fastest lap in NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series qualifying up until it was cancelled due to inclement weather, will start 12th in the No. 98 Quanta Services Ford F-150 for ThorSport Racing.
Other drivers in the Chase for the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series – both Driver’s and Owner’s – starting outside the top-10 include Tyler Ankrum (13th), Ben Rhodes (14th), Gio Ruggiero (19th), Christian Eckes (21st), Connor Mosack (22nd), and Nick Leitz (25th).
The UNOH 250 will take place on Thursday, September 17 at 8:00 PM ET on FS1.
