Zane Smith’s race ended early after the brake rotor failed on his No. 38 car at World Wide Technology Raceway.

Smith was not the only driver affected by brake rotor failure, as multiple drivers experienced the same issue, including Chase Elliott, Chris Buescher and Ryan Blaney.

On lap 132, Smith’s brake rotor broke on the straightaway. Instead of riding the outside wall into the corner, Smith snapped the car to the left and smacked the outside wall with the left side of the car.

The spotter asked if he was okay, and Smith’s only transmission over the radio was a slight grunt.

Smith dropped the window net after the hit. When Smith got out of the car, he needed assistance to get into the ambulance, as he was unable to put his full weight on his legs. Smith finished in 36th place.

Front Row Motorsports posted on social media that Smith was checked and released from the infield.
