Jimmie Johnson, a seven-time champion in the NASCAR Cup Series, is no stranger to altering the record books – although for him, it’s typically been done on the racetrack. This time, the El Cajon, California-native is making history off-track.
A first-ballot NASCAR Hall of Fame driver, a co-owner of NASCAR Cup Series team LEGACY MOTOR CLUB, and a Rookie of the Year honoree in the Indianapolis 500, Johnson has become the first motorsports competitor to be honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
“To receive this honor is incredibly humbling,” said Johnson. “As a kid growing up in Southern California, Hollywood always represented a place where dreams became reality. I never imagined my path would lead through racing, much less to something like this. I’m grateful to everyone who has been part of this journey—my family, teammates, partners, competitors, fans, and friends. This recognition reflects all of us.”
From his on-track achievements – including 83 NASCAR Cup Series wins and seven NASCAR Cup Series titles – to his off-track philanthropic efforts with the Jimmie Johnson Foundation, the 50-year-old is being honored with a place in the history of one of America’s most prestigious and star-studded cities, which will be cemented – literally – forever.

Jimmie’s star is a fitting tribute to a true champion whose impact extends far beyond the finish line.”
Johnson spent the majority of his career driving for Hendrick Motorsports in the NASCAR Cup Series, making the No. 48 Lowe’s Chevrolet an iconic fixture in pop culture from 2002 to 2018, and continuing to drive the team’s No. 48 for multiple years after. Now, as part of LEGACY MOTOR CLUB, Johnson has helped build an entire competitive organization and put them in the limelight, starting from the legacy of another legend in Richard Petty.
LEGACY MOTOR CLUB currently fields the No. 42 and No. 43 for John Hunter Nemechek and Erik Jones in the NASCAR Cup Series, and starting in 2027, will field the No. 84. Johnson will run his final NASCAR Cup Series event in February at Daytona International Speedway, driving the No. 13 in the 2027 DAYTONA 500 on February 21.
