Ahead of a press conference scheduled for 11:00 AM ET at Martinsville Speedway, RFK Racing has released a statement unveiling its path forward with 2012 NASCAR Cup Series champion Brad Keselowski.

On September 29, Keselowski and RFK jointly announced that the Rochester Hills, Michigan-native would no longer be piloting the No. 6 Ford Mustang Dark Horse in the NASCAR Cup Series in 2027.

According to the team’s statement, released about 30 minutes before the scheduled press conference, Keselowski will remain a part of the RFK Racing ownership group, although as a “passive investor”. He will be allowed to continue his driving career with another organization.

By definition, a passive investor is an investor who does not actively participate in running the company that they own. In this case, Keselowski’s transition to a “passive investor” will end his role in governance, oversight of competition, and board participation.

“RFK Racing and Brad Keselowski have come to a mutual agreement that will allow Brad to continue his driving career with another organization. Moving forward, Brad will be a passive investor of RFK Racing, this concluding his role in governance, competition oversight, and board participation.”

“We thank Brad for his many contributions to RFK Racing and wish him the best of luck with the remainder of his racing career.”

Additional details will likely come at Keselowski’s 11:00 AM ET press conference.
