Gio Ruggiero is returning to TRICON Garage for the 2027 NASCAR FedEx Freight Truck Series campaign, the team announced on Wednesday.

Ruggiero, a native of Seekonk, Massachusetts, will continue to drive the No. 17 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro, the same entry he’s piloted since joining the organization as a Rookie of The Year contender in 2025.

In 47 starts in the NASCAR Truck Series, Ruggiero has managed to secure a trip to Victory Lane once, winning at the end of his rookie season at Talladega Superspeedway – the track that the series returns to this weekend for the Love’s RV Stops 225.

His stat line also includes 11 finishes inside the top-five, and 22 inside the top-10. With three races remaining in the 2026 NASCAR Truck Series campaign, Ruggiero is currently on pace to collect a career-best points finish, currently sitting in the seventh position.

The No. 17 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro is the first of five full-time seats to be confirmed for TRICON Garage in the NASCAR FedEx Freight Truck Series for 2027. Ruggiero is the fourth full-timer to be confirmed, joining Layne Riggs, Jake Garcia, and Kasey Kahne.

Alongside his starts in the NASCAR Truck Series this season, Ruggiero has branched out into other series with other Toyota-backed teams. Ruggiero ran a pair of superspeedway events for Joe Gibbs Racing in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series, while also running six ARCA Menards Series events for the team – winning four.

Additional details such as sponsorship and personnel for the No. 17, as well as the rest of TRICON Garage’s 2027 NASCAR FedEx Freight Truck Series driver lineup will be announced in due course.
