Carson Brown has made two starts and is poised to take the No. 2 car in 2027 after his run at Charlotte Motor Speedway for Jordan Anderson Racing.
Before Charlotte, Brown only made one other career start in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series, which was a 15th at Iowa Speedway in August.
This weekend became a double-duty event for Brown between two different states. Brown was scheduled to race for Anthony Campi Racing in the ASA Stars National Tour’s Winchester 400, but Brown was able to get a deal to race the NASCAR O’Reilly Series car for Jordan Anderson Racing. One problem: both races were scheduled for the same day.
“It was very interesting, and one point I didn’t even think I was gonna race the Winchester 400 since they were on the same day,” Brown said.
With the O’Reilly Series race postponed by rain until Sunday night, Brown ran the No. 81 car in the Winchester 400 for Anthony Campi Racing and won. The Winchester winner gets a gold rifle. And where is that rifle?
“I actually don’t have it because we had to book it here because the pilots were gonna time out last night,” Brown said.
Brown started his No. 32 car in 20th with no practice or qualifying. He ran mainly outside the top 10 for most of the night. The final caution came out when Brent Crews blew his right front tire. With 10 laps to go, Brown pitted for tires and restarted 19th. He made 14 passes in 10 laps and was pleasantly surprised with how many passes he made.
“I did not think that I was gonna be sitting here being P5. When he said that over the radio after the checkered, I was pretty shocked, knowing we were so fast there in the last few laps,” Brown said.
Looking forward to next season, Brown said of his O’Reilly Series run, “I wish I could definitely get more [races] on the schedule, but this has allowed me to have a little bit more confidence on this side. I’m really happy to have it up here.”
Brown’s strong finish gives Richard Childress Racing a driver with momentum heading into 2027.
