Brandon Jones, driving the No. 20 Menards Toyota GR Supra for Joe Gibbs Racing, has been disqualified by NASCAR following Saturday’s Focused Health 302 for the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, after it was discovered that the car had more than four loose lug nuts.
Jones, one of the 12 drivers in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series Chase, retired from Saturday’s fourth race of the Chase after only 54 laps, when a loose wheel caused an accident heading into Turn 1, which saw the Joe Gibbs Racing driver crash and collect championship contender Justin Allgaier.
As a result of the disqualification, Jones will be demoted from 35th to 36th in the finishing order for Saturday’s event, and his fourth-place result in Stage 1 will be invalidated, moving every driver up one position when it comes to the end of Stage 1.
The new Stage 1 finishing order is as follows: Corey Day, Sam Mayer, Rajah Caruth, Jesse Love, Brent Crews, Ryan Sieg, Taylor Gray, Austin Hill, Justin Allgaier, and William Sawalich.
Love, Crews, Sieg, Gray, Hill, Allgaier, and Sawalich will all gain an additional point via Stage 1 results, while Dawson Cram, who crossed the line 36th in the No. 47 for Mike Harmon Racing, is being promoted to the 35th position, gaining him a single point.
Jones will lose eight points to the leader but retain 11th in the standings.
