Austin Hill had heard enough from his spotter while racing Shane van Gisbergen at Kansas Speedway during the NASCAR Cup Series race.

The duo has history. At Chicagoland Speedway earlier this year, van Gisbergen made contact with Hill, ending Hill’s day.

On lap 110 of the race at Kansas, van Gisbergen, in the No. 97 car, drifted up off the exit of turn 2 while Hill, in the No. 33 car, was running right next to the wall. Both cars brushed the wall. Hill lost two spots after the contact.

Spotter Derek Kneeland told Hill on the radio: “Settle down. All good here.”

Hill said, “He needs to settle down.”

Trying to pep up his driver, Kneeland said, “Can’t keep racing each other like that every week. We’re going to have destroyed cars and no finishes, whether he is being the dick or we are. We got to be able to finish. We’re decent and I know this run went to shit, but we got to get back together here. Just keep it together.”

Hill said, “I don’t want to hear it, honestly. I don’t want to hear from you, just spot.”

Hill ended up with a 26th-place finish, one lap down, and van Gisbergen finished two spots ahead in 24th.

This was nowhere near as intense as the fight between Ryan Blaney and Carson Hocevar at Bristol Motor Speedway last week, but the tension on track between Hill and van Gisbergen has not gone away.
