The NASCAR Cup Series (for the second consecutive weekend) will have its first laps of on-track activity for the weekend when the green flag drops for Sunday’s event, after Mother Nature forced the cancellation of practice and qualifying from Kansas Speedway.

It’s quite the anomaly that NASCAR has on its hands, as well, with the last five NASCAR National Series qualifying sessions (all three series at Bristol, and both Cup and Trucks at Kansas) have been axed due to inclement weather.

Ironically enough, with one of the hot-button topics of the last month being the inequity of NASCAR’s Performance Metric, that same metric will set the start lineup for Sunday’s Hollywood Casino 400.

Joey Logano, driving the No. 22 Shell-Pennzoil Ford Mustang Dark Horse for Team Penske, will be starting from the pole in Sunday’s 400-miler, courtesy of his victory last Saturday in the Bass Pro Shops Night Race at Bristol.

NASCAR Cup Series points leader Kyle Larson will start in the second position, with Darlington winner Christopher Bell in third. Carson Hocevar will roll from the fourth position, with Ty Gibbs completing the top-five.

Denny Hamlin will start sixth, with Bubba Wallace, William Byron, Ryan Preece, and Josh Berry all inside the top 10. Six of the 16 drivers in the NASCAR Cup Series Chase for the Championship will start outside the top-10. Austin Cindric will roll from 11th, with Chris Buescher 12th, Tyler Reddick 15th, Chase Elliott 18th, Chase Briscoe 23rd, and Ryan Blaney in 25th.

The Hollywood Casino 400 will take place Sunday at 3:00 PM ET on USA Sports.
