Louis Foster, a second-year driver in the NTT IndyCar Series for Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing (RLL), is still working on getting his roots settled in America’s top open-wheel division, but that’s not to say he’s got tunnel vision, as far as his future is concerned.
Joining Speed with Harvick and Buxton last week, Foster talked about some prospects for his future as a race car driver, as the NTT IndyCar Series comes off a pair of doubleheader weekends with NASCAR’s National Series on The Streets of St. Petersburg and at Phoenix Raceway.
The 22-year-old driver says that NASCAR, specifically the NASCAR Cup Series, would be something he’d love to take a crack at in the future.
“It’s fun to see the NASCAR guys. I love NASCAR. When I race in the sim, all I drive is NASCAR, honestly, just NASCAR, I don’t do anything else because I find NASCAR so fun,” Foster said.
Growing up in England, Foster says the motorsports focus was strictly on Formula 1, but since coming to America to compete in INDYCAR, he’s fallen in love with America’s top-level stock car division.
“100%, yeah,” Foster said decisively when asked by [Kevin] Harvick if he would give NASCAR a shot if the right opportunity presented itself. “I mean, on an oval, these boys would probably beat me [later quipping that he’d probably be laps down], but on a road course, I’d like to think I could hold my own, at least a bit more.”
It’s not *just* the NASCAR Cup Series, either. Foster says he’d be open to trying anything related to stock car racing, but not at the current moment, with intentions of getting his NTT IndyCar Series career off the ground a little more before doing too much exploring in other vehicles.
“NASCAR, in general,” Foster said. “I think stock cars would be fun to do. Right now, I need to get my INDYCAR career planted and make sure I’m comfortable in my seat, but in a few years, it’s something I’d love to do.”
Foster first joined the NTT IndyCar Series grid in 2025, driving the No. 45 Honda for Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing. In 21 career starts, Foster has yet to break through with a podium — collecting a career-best of 11th-place on two occasions. However, last Summer at Road America, Foster did start on the pole.
