Frankie Muniz is a championship-winning race car driver.
With a second-place class finish in Sunday’s season-finale at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Muniz and co-driver Tyler Stone were able to clinch the 2026 Pirelli GT4 America Am Class Championship in the No. 30 TechSport Racing Ford Mustang GT4 (S650).
Known for his starring role in the popular 2000s sitcom Malcolm in the Middle, Muniz has been on a journey to achieve a lifelong dream of being a race car driver, which has taken him to the ARCA Menards Series, NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series, and even the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series, before choosing, with the help of Ford Racing, to split his time between the Truck Series and Sports Cars.
Alongside his full campaign in the Pirelli GT4 America Series, Muniz ran the majority of the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series campaign for Team Reaume, driving the No. 33 Ford F-150. This weekend, though, with a championship on the line, Muniz elected to stay in Indianapolis and skip Friday’s Ecosave 200 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
It’s been a solid campaign for Muniz and Stone in GT4 America, with in-class victories in both events at Road America, as well as the second leg of a doubleheader at Barber Motorsports Park. In total, the No. 30 TechSport Ford Mustang GT4 collected three wins and seven podiums in 13 races.
Muniz, now a championship-winning driver, was emotional after clinching the title.
“Going into this, I’d never raced sports cars; my first time ever in a GT4 car was in the first practice at Sonoma,” Muniz said. “I thank Ford Racing for pushing me in this direction. I feel like halfway through the year we really figured everything out, won a few races and put ourselves in the position to win the championship.”
“Yesterday, we had a great race, we finished second, we had the lead in the points, but we had a bad break and had to start 10th today in class and I didn’t really know what was going to happen. But, [Tyler Stone, co-driver] drove incredibly, handed me the car off and we had a clean pit stop and we are the champs, and this is the best thing in the entire world.”
The entire experience for Muniz has been a dream come true.
“Definitely go for it,” Muniz said when asked what he has to say to those chasing their dreams. “I know sometimes you have to take a leap and it’s scary, but you can’t be afraid to fail. I feel like I failed – not failed, but it was a work in progress. It took me 20 years to feel this feeling of winning and being champions, and thanks to Tyler, Ford Racing, and TechSport Racing, I love this so much.”
