Qualifying for Friday’s NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series Allegiance 200 at Nashville Superspeedway has been washed away, after inclement weather reached Lebanon, Tennessee, in the middle of time trials.

The only person who is probably happy about that (other than Caleb Costner, who gets himself into the race this way) is Erik Darnell, whose NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series track record will stand for at least another year.

About two-thirds of the field had already made their qualifying attempt when the poor weather conditions arrived at the 1.33-mile racetrack. While NASCAR attempted to get the jet dryers out there to help, it was no use for pesky Mother Nature.

It’s the first time the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series has had back-to-back qualifying sessions axed due to inclement weather since Iowa and Gateway in June 2019.

Chandler Smith had laid down an incredible lap time in his No. 38 Ford F-150 for Front Row Motorsports, but, with qualifying washed away, that lap — three-tenths faster than second and six-tenths faster than the track record — will not count towards a potential pole or new track record.

The NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series Rule Book will set the starting lineup.

Layne Riggs (No. 34 Ford F-150) will start from the pole in Friday’s 200-lapper, with Kaden Honeycutt starting on the outside of the front row. Jesse Love, Gio Ruggiero, and Christian Eckes will round out the top-five starters. Ben Rhodes, Brandon Jones, William Sawalich, Tanner Gray, and Daniel Hemric will round out the top-10.

Daniel Dye, piloting the No. 20 Chevrolet Silverado RST with no owner points for McAnally-HIlgemann Racing, was able to get the final spot in the field courtesy of his practice time. Had the series not completed practice, then Dye would have failed to make the race.

Toni Breidinger (No. 27 Raising Cane’s Chevrolet Silverado RST for Rackley WAR) and Jonathan Shafer (No. 69 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro for MBM Motorsports) were the two drivers who failed to qualify for Friday’s event — which will take place at 8:00 PM ET tonight on FS1.
